I am an artist, I paint and sculpt women primarily; in their daily lives; in lives they might be afraid of; and in lives they wish they had. My goal has always remained the same; to hear them breathing and to know the passion I feel in my soul is met by theirs.
It is not possible to feel apathetic while standing next to passion. I don't paint landscapes to hang above someone's couch, paintings meant to be a resting place for the mind? I want to paint feelings that one cannot dismiss. I hope to stir up feelings that overwhelm within the viewer as well as myself. It is not my goal to feel nothing but a sunny day or peacefulness, shiny trinkets that rest on walls that can be walked away from. I want to paint women who feel something. I paint myself as I define it and revel in the fact that I am made whole by my own journey of introspection.

I want to paint strength, sexuality, pain, power, a force of intensity, emotional qualities that generate a reaction. I don't want to paint the sky, I want to paint the dominance of the wind that caused it to be felt on ones skin, in the form of a woman. I pick up my brush or clay between my fingers and consider a certain belligerence, an attitude of confidence that meets the power I need to form an energy outside myself and I welcome it in. I paint or sculpt until I hear them breathing and their breath becomes my own.

In every single one of my paintings my objective is to 'know them' . To let each one reveal their own vision or message. I am often astounded as their presence unfolds & I am met with who they are. I then realize that who 'they' are, defines me as well. My hope is that my paintings & sculptures relate to you, their audience & that they give you the message you need for your own heart and soul.

How to Take Care of a Tattoo

How to Take Care of a Tattoo

This is a very important step - take care of your tattoo until it fully heals. Instructions that the studio gives you should be followed when caring for your tattoo so that you heal properly. If you see or feel any signs of infection such as pain, spreading redness, swelling, or drainage of pus, call your doctor.

    - It is advisable to keep a bandage on the area for up to 24 hours.

    - The tattoo artist will probably advise you to avoid touching the tattoo and not to pick at any scabs that form.

    - You will be advised to wash the tattoo with an antibacterial soap (don't use alcohol or peroxide =they'll dry out the tattoo). Using a soft towel to dry the tattoo — just pat it dry and don’t rub.

    - Antibiotic ointment may be advised on the tattoo. It is recommended not to use petroleum jelly!

    - If you have redness or swelling try an ice pack on the area.

    - Keep the tattoo dry until it heals, staying away from pools, hot tubs, or long, hot baths would be best.

    - Your tattoo should be kept out of the sun until it's fully healed.Source URL: http://kain3s.blogspot.com/2007/09/

Church Ablaze As Cartoon Protests Continue Across Globe
Pakistani protesters enraged by caricatures of the prophet Muhammad set fire to a church in Sindh province yesterday as police battled with rioters in the federal capital, Islamabad.
About 400 people attacked the church in southern Sukkar city after accusations that a local Christian had burned pages from the Qur’an, local police said.
The outrage sparked by the cartoons showed no signs of dying down, with further protests in Jakarta and Istanbul.

In Islamabad, security forces tried to block the rally organized by the MMA religious alliance by cordoning off the city centre, detaining Islamist leaders and blocking the road from Peshawar, in North-West Frontier Province.
Hundreds of soldiers were posted outside the offices of the Norwegian mobile phone firm Telenor and American fast food outlets. Still, hundreds of youths clashed with the police, pelting them with paving stones and scurrying down alleyways to escape plumes of tear gas.
The Danish ambassador left Pakistan and advised fellow citizens to do the same, having closed the embassy on Friday. Danish aid workers in earthquake-hit areas have also left.

As in previous cartoon protests, many seemed as angry with their leader, General Pervez Musharraf, and his alliance with the American president, George Bush, who is due to visit Pakistan next month, as they were with the caricatures.
Rashid Hafiz, 22, handed out salt to protesters whose mouths were stinging from the tear gas. "The US and its allies are the terrorists of this world. Inshallah, we will crush them," he said. Abu Omar, a 41-year-old civil servant from Rawalpindi, had brought his five sons to the march, one as young as eight. The only way to end the riots, he said, was for the Danish government to hand over the cartoonist to "the Muslim community".

"Let us decide - either to forgive him or punish him with death. If America can decide the punishment for Osama, why can’t we decide that?"
In Jakarta, hundreds of stick-wielding Muslim radicals attacked the heavily fortified American embassy, angry over the Muhammad cartoons, a statue depicting the prophet in the US Supreme Court and their perception that Washington wants to destroy Islam.
The 400 members of the Islamic Defenders Front arrived at the mission behind a banner reading: "We are ready to attack the enemies of the prophet." After shouting slogans and burning an American flag and a photo of President Bush, the protesters started throwing stones, rotten eggs and sticks at the perimeter gates. They then charged the gates, catching the 50 police officers off guard.

"They [western countries] want to destroy Islam through the issue of terrorism...and all those things are engineered by the United States," said Maksuni, a protest organizer. "This is not the last warning. This is only the beginning. There will be bigger actions against them."
The windows of a guardpost were smashed but little other damage was done. The embassy claimed the incident was "premeditated" and "staged for television". It said: "This sort of thuggery is unacceptable and needs to be treated as what it is."
Protests in Indonesia against the cartoons have been occurring daily but were largely peaceful because most religious leaders preached moderation.

In Istanbul, tens of thousands of people joined a peaceful demonstration, chanting slogans against Denmark, Israel and the United States. The protest was organized by the Islamic Felicity party, whose leaders urged the world’s 1.5 billion Muslims to "resist oppression".
